Daytona accident injures biker

Every year, over 100,000 motorcyclists are injured in auto accidents, many of which can be forever life-changing; some can even be life threatening. Not only can the physical recovery be challenging, but the financial burden can add to the emotional strain. Luckily, motorcyclists who are injured by the carelessness or recklessness of another may be entitled to compensations for losses; such as medical bills, lost wages, property replacement and pain and suffering.

On the night of Wednesday, June 6th, 2012, around 9 p.m. Daytona Beach Fire and Police units freed a motorcyclist who was pinned underneath a car in a traffic accident on Clyde Morris Boulevard at Georgetown Boulevard. Daytona Beach Fire Department spokesperson David Newell was quoted saying that the biker was removed from beneath the vehicle using the “jaws of life”. On scene paramedics were able to stabilize the man, but he had suffered serious injuries and was transported by EVAC to Halifax Health.

Unfortunately, this wasn't the only accident that day. The area was wracked by rainstorms on the 6th, causing slick and hazardous driving conditions, and spokesperson David Newell added that the Daytona Beach Fire Department had responded to “numerous motor vehicle accidents throughout the city.”

This kind of event is unfortunate, but they do happen and it is best to be prepared.
