New Year’s Resolutions for Motorcyclists

|

Politis & Matovina, P.A. has several avid motorcyclists on our team. With 2020 soon coming to an end, we thought it would be a good time to create some motorcycle-related New Year’s resolutions. We invite you to borrow some or all of these resolutions if they speak to you, too!

Five recommended New Year’s resolutions for motorcyclists:

  • Check your insurance: You need to keep your motorcycle insurance policy up-to-date and accurate. If some information is outdated or, even worse, your policy expires, then you will be in a rough spot should you be involved in a motorcycle accident. In January, check your motorcycle insurance policy to ensure that everything is in order and that it is not going to expire any time soon. You can also use that time to adjust your policy as needed, like increasing your uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage.
  • Maintain your bike: Proper maintenance and repairs to your ride are essential to your safety whenever you hit the road. If you have not taken your bike to the shop for maintenance in a while, make that one of the first things you do to ring in the New Year.
  • Inspect your helmet: While we are on the subject of safety equipment, don’t forget your motorcycle helmet’s condition. As time goes by, the fit of your helmet can change due to the helmet’s inner padding wearing down, damage to the helmet, or even a new hairstyle. Make a New Year’s resolution to check your helmet’s comfortable fit and research a new one to purchase if necessary.
  • Undergo retraining: Veteran motorcyclists will admit that there is always a benefit to taking a refresher course every few years or so. Relearning basic riding behaviors that you might have forgotten can be hugely beneficial to your overall riding safety.
  • Visit somewhere new: The last motorcycle New Year’s resolution to make should be a little fun. For our motorcyclists, few things are more exciting and enjoyable than visiting a new place, via motorcycle, of course. Do you have somewhere you have been intending to visit for a while but never got around to making the time? Why not resolve to go there next year and then set some plans in place early in the year so it actually happens?

Please have a fun and safe New Year’s Eve and Day this year! From our team to your family, we wish you the absolute best whenever you’re on the road. If you ever get into a motorcycle accident caused by a negligent motorist, though, know that you can contact our team for reliable and knowledgeable legal representation in Daytona Beach.
